Easy YouTube Video Downloader (EasyYTD)

A simple Windows tool designed for beginners like myself for downloading videos and audio from YouTube and other sites. This is in summary an installer for yt-dlp to allow Youtube video and audio exporting for windows. I tried to upload this to GitHub but the file was too large.

How To Use

• First extract the zip
• Then open the folder in the location you installed it
• Double-click Extract Video to download a video as .mp4
• Double-click Extract Audio to download audio only as .mp3
• Paste the URL when prompted and press Enter
• Your file will appear in the Output folder when done

Requirements

• Windows 10 or later
• Optional: Install Node.js to suppress a JS runtime warning

Q&A

Q: Is this a Virus?

A: No, this is not a virus. The included programs are open source on GitHub. If something happens let me know and I will take this down immediately.

Q: Why is it not an EXE?

A: I tried that, but it came up as a false positive. WinRAR self-extracting archives commonly get flagged by Defender's AI detection even when they are completely safe.  I will just upload a ZIP for now.

Q: Why does it say "Unknown Publisher"?

A: Code signing certificates cost money so I haven't purchased one. The app is safe to run.

Q: Why is this on itch.io instead of GitHub?

A: I tried to upload it to GitHub, but the file was too large.

Q: Why does the folder have a desktop.ini file inside it?

A: This is a harmless Windows system file that gets created automatically. You can safely delete it or ignore it.
